Experience the breathtaking beauty of Mendenhall Glacier from the water on this thrilling float trip down the Mendenhall River.
Your adventure begins with a scenic, narrated motorcoach ride to Mendenhall Lake, where you’ll gear up and board a custom-made raft for an unforgettable journey. Glide across the serene waters of the lake, taking in spectacular views of Mendenhall Glacier, before starting your five-mile trip downstream.
As you float along the Mendenhall River, your experienced guide will navigate the changing waters. The speed of the current and rapids depend on the weather, but your guide ensures a safe and exhilarating ride. For a more relaxed experience, sit back and enjoy the scenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, opt for a paddle raft, where you’ll help steer through a one-mile stretch of Class III rapids, following your guide’s commands.
Along the way, your guide will share insights about the glacier, river, and surrounding wilderness. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including Arctic terns, bald eagles, salmon, and even bears along the shoreline.
At the end of your journey, head to shore to warm up with an Alaskan snack and hot beverage. You’ll also have the chance to purchase a souvenir photo of your rafting experience before boarding the motorcoach for a relaxing ride back to your ship.
